Flash Programming Services

Production Flash Programming for Manufacturers

=

Flash programming services are crucial when manually programming flash memory during PCB assembly can add time to the manufacturing process. Larger firmware images, software revisions, and customer-specific data all have to be managed correctly before a product can move to the next operation. Many manufacturers choose to move that work offline.

ProEx programs customer-supplied firmware images, boot code, configuration files, and other production data into flash memory devices before they reach the assembly line. Components arrive programmed and verified, allowing production to continue without adding another programming step during SMT or final assembly.

Some jobs require the same firmware image across an entire production lot. Others require every device to contain unique serial numbers, MAC addresses, security credentials, or calibration data. Programming is performed using customer-approved files and documented production procedures.

Flash Memory and Package Compatibility

ProEx programs many of the flash memory devices used in today's embedded products, including SPI Flash, Serial NOR Flash, Parallel NOR Flash, NAND Flash, eMMC, and EEPROM technologies.

Supported package styles include SOIC, SOP, TSOP, DFN, WSON, QFN, BGA, and supported eMMC packages.

Programming support depends on the device manufacturer, package style, programming algorithm, and socket availability.

Programming compatibility depends on the specific device family and package. Our team will confirm support for your microcontroller before your project enters production.

Flash Programming With Firmware Revision Control and Verification

Remove Programming From the Assembly Line

One of the biggest challenges with flash programming is keeping firmware revisions under control. Loading the wrong image, programming outdated firmware, or losing track of revision changes can create unnecessary production delays.

Keeping firmware revisions under control is one of flash programming’s biggest challenges. When the wrong image is loaded, revision changes are lost track of, or outdated firmware can create unnecessary production delays.

Approved programming files and documented procedures are used in each production lot.  Depending on the project, programming may include First Article approval, program-and-verify operations, checksum verification, controlled image revision management, and complete lot traceability. Most production orders are completed within 1–3 business days after components, programming files, and documentation are received.

Offline flash programming helps remove programming operations from SMT and final assembly while improving production throughput.

We are an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer and an ITAR-registered semiconductor manufacturing service provider. We proudly support manufacturers in industrial automation, medical devices, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer products, and other quality-driven industries.

Truly High Volume Flash Programming Capabilites

Our team has programmed tens of thousands of NOR flash devices in single projects. All devices are programmed with approved firmware images and unique serialized identifiers, all verified after programming, packaged in tape and reel, and shipped with complete production traceability. We focus on device programming, while our customers keep their production resources focused on assembly.
